Not really. This would mean I would have to stay glued to the screen waiting for next focus event.
If there is some way of letting the scheduler/Ekos know that its a manual focuser then it could potentially pause when it attempts to do focus. Similar to when it needs to take darks and it waits for cover to be placed.
I am assuming that level of control already exists as documentation suggests it supports both manual and auto focuser.

Hi,
I do my focussing manually. I do a manual focus using the Focus simulator before I start imaging but subsequently once scheduler has taken charge, if the focus changes or I need to force a focus change there doesnt seem to be a way for the scheduler to pause automatically and alert me to do a manual focus. It treats as if I have an automated focuser and goes into a loop.
Is there a way around this?

Hi,
Is there a way to create a capture sequence without attaching my camera to Ekos? If I use the simulator it limits the amount of gain I can assign. Not sure if there are other drawbacks??

Hi Wolfgang,

Here are my thoughts based on my usage of the remote storage feature. I have Ekos on a Limux Mint laptop and thats connected to a RPi via ethernet which runs INDI server.
a) Using the option Remote
- Cant see a preview of the image
- Scheduler doesnt keep track of number of images captured. (Interestingly I noticed that the Analysis tab showed correctly the number of captures so wondering if Scheduler can make use of this?)
- storage capacity of SD card is a limiting factor
+ Faster download of images
b) Using the option Both
- For some strange reason the number of images on the RPi SD card were more than number stored locally. Local storage had correct number of images as requested from scheduler
- Slower download compared to Remote
- storage capacity of SD card is a limiting factor
+ Can see a preview of images
+ Scheduler is able to control the number of images

Nice to have feature would be a new option to store remotely and option to copy/move to local storage in the background, giving best of both worlds.
Hope this helps.

I had a similar problem when all the solvers suddenly stopped working from within Ekos. I ended up redoing all config from start with a fresh install.
Wish there was a simple way to backup all the Ekos related config at one go.

@Jasem Is there a bug/wishlist item to make this work for remotely stored images? As I mentioned in my previous post, where does the Analysis tab gather the info to figure out that a capture has been done and could this same info be used as the basis for the scheduler to figure out the same info??

Would that do a blind solve?

Is that the equivalent of doing a blind solve?

Hmm....is that why the number of images captured locally vs on remote folder was different?
BTW, how does the Analysis tab figure out if a Capture has taken place? Cause that seemed to be aware of the number of captures.....

Hi,
I am relatively new to using INDI server remotely.
I noticed the following strange behaviour last night when I opted to store images both (locally + remote). I used the scheduler and asked it capture 25 images. It stored 25 in my local folder but on the remote folder I found 28!
Also when I tried to store only remotely, it just wouldnt show progress updates in the scheduler and in the end I had to abort.
Has anyone else faced this behaviour?

I have the following setup:
- Laptop running Linux Mint with Kstars 3.5.4 Stable
- RPi built from Astroberry build and latest version of INDI
Laptop is connected to RPi using Ethernet cable and camera is connected via USB to RPi.

Perhaps you could compare it with whatver HFR value was showing just before the capture took place or take an average of the values (if its possible ofcourse) :-)
Another nice to have would be if there was some way to 'calibrate' it to understand if the focusser was moving in or out and then be more intelligent in suggesting what the user should do!

Great tool. I do the focussing manually and what would really help is if the tool can visually tell me if I have improved or made things worse by turning the knob (perhaps with an arrow pointing UP, Down). If it was in large graphics, its even better as it would be easier to spot from a short distance as you keep moving back & forth from scope to computer screen. Its just a nice to have :-)
