This post should be add to the documentation :)

Hello
i tried your setting last night and it works like a charm :)
Scheduler jobs keep rescheduling when clouds are passing throught my target.

The only thing is that if guiding is retry several time before aborting the job i can get a lot of deviation on the target and no alignement is restart.
If job is aborted , i think there is an option for that

ok , so when clouds coverage is occuring during night , it lauch an hardshutdown of shecduler (and ekos if option check).

But how do people using ekos in remote observatory to relaunch the scheduler ? they have to connect to restart ?
is there a linux cmd that we can use to relauch the scheduler so it can be in pre emptive state waiting for clear sky ?

Hi all
i m using ekos on a Steallarmate plateform, rpi4, on a not permanent pier
I m using ekos scheduler to run jobs throught the night on clear skies.

Last night, it starts ok but after one hour, passing clouds appears and killed my guding. . I wait one hour , stills cloudy, so i pack all the rig into home and go to bed . and of course , this morning full clear sky :)  (since around 2am..)

i was wondering how to deals with passing clouds to pause the scheduler and restart it when clouds have go away
i test with simulator and weather pluging openweather.

if i run a job and force a bad weather situation , job is aborted and scheduler is stopped
but when i reset good weather , the scheduler need to be relauch, there seems not to have an automatic restart.

Is there a means to achieve  this so that if sky is clearing during the night , scheduler can relauch jobs ?

before i buy a lunatico cloud watcher , i would like to now if i can use it to max my observing hours
i ve got another queston on scheduler and guiding with passing clouds, but i will create another post :)

thanks
floren t

thanks for your help

if only i knew how to code :)

i can make very simple shell but thats all :)

i m experiement the Netatmo opendata map with my Home automation software (jeedom, french team !) . i ve selected a few open netatmo station with rain detector around my house . Will check if it work . i should able to get a alert of rain , but for cloud coverage

an all sky camera counting the number of star is a great idea to check the coverage

i m going to test the command to watch some parameter

may be a notification section on ekos will be a nice addon for automated obs, just with an email

i m looking on information about how to catch Indi warning or error . i can parse the logs and sent web resquest but i cant find there the default logs are except f i specify FILE in logs option

what is the possility with weather alerts ?

hello
i m using EKOS (stellarmate version) and i wonder  how to raise alert  when some event occur during the night  as  guiding lost or camera sequence aborted or humidy level raise.

i will like to be able to send an alert to a google home , or home automation system (like philips hue light) to wake me .
yesterday , weatherforcast say it  will be a clear night and when i wake up this morning it was raining , hopefully i remove my scope at 1am :)
as i dont have a automated dome , i wonder if someone can help me how to do it.

if somewhere in ekos we can react to an event to send a web request , i m sure i can get alert on my phone with IFTTT or something like this

thanks

hello
i ve test with the simulator .

it is the option 'reverse DEC with pier" in the Guide option which  is my problem
if i check it , DEC is not swap when i move from West to East
if i uncheck it , Dec is swap .

the description of this option was not clear for me . And i cant find it on help file ?

hello

in the option of calibration , there is an option to reuse a guidiing calibration and an option to DEC swap when the subject is on the other side of the pier than the calibration set.

I ve check these tow option and uncheck the option to get a full calibration on each mount slew
but i ve got problem with that.
last night i make a guiding calibration on a subject on the west side , the set was very good as the object was near meridian/equator. Guiding was good
my next object was on east side and at the start the guiding was awfull.  The DEC was not automaticly swapped . I check the DEC SWAP checkbox , and the guiding is now good.

i check the pier side report by the mount (EQM35pro, eqmod) and it was good.

Did i miss something in order to be able to reuse calibration ?
i can redo a calibration each slew but as my mount got hugh DEC backlash, sometime i got calib failure if i m not near equator/meridian.

also , if i do only a RA calibration , how dec guiding will be ? with standard dec guiding speed ?

thanks for your help :)

flo replied to the topic 'Polar alignement with EKOS' in the forum. 3 years ago

Hi
thanks for your response ,
My mount is on concrete and it is not so windy

At first i suspect the cats running into the tripod but one night i kept them inside house , same thing :)

I think you are right and during the night the differents slew must move a little bit the tripod . it is so sensible when i making polar alignement
i m going to slew slower may be it will help

As i m struggling with autoguiding calibration , i m looking to check every aspect. i know my mount is not very well tuned and on low end for astrophotography

an other thing, when i m doing polar aligment with ekos i m using my main scope/cam , 600mm.
yesterday at the beginning of imaging i was around 20sec arc polar error
at the end , i was around 5minutes.
I check the polar error using my guide scope , 162mm/ZWO120mm mini , and the error was around 1,5min

Why ekos mesure different polar error when using different focal lenght ?
is doing polar alignement with 600mm is not a good idea ?

thanks
