Might be good to add some more info, like your telescope and what software you are using.
It took me 3-4 days to work out setting the correct focus distance, exposure and gain to get a picture.
Actually I found trying to set things up during the day time was a bit easier.
Try focusing on a far away object, like a TV aerial or tree. Then very gently adjust exposure and gain.
