Hi!

I'm currently looking into building something that's a little more than a 100% manually driven telescope. While skimming through the drivers, my impression is that most "simple" (serial) devices (primarily: mounts, fucussers and probably filter wheels) have drivers that are available fully in source code, but cameras (esp. CCDs) seem to commonly rely on vendor SDKs or libs of some kind, for which usually no sources are available?

Apart from DSLRs, are there CCDs commercially available for which all required code (maybe except camera's firmware) is fully available as source code? As I'm buying stuff, I'd rather prefer to buy stuff that's fully supported with free/open source software, instead of relying on vendor's SDKs.

Thanks,
Jan-Benedict
