Perhaps someone out there with greater experience than mine can help out.

My normal setup is running KStars/Ekos on a MacBook Pro talking to my EQ5 mount (Orion SkyView Pro). Prolific 2303 driver installed and fine. As a test, I use a minimal profile of

EQMod Mount + ZWO CCD

Everything connects and works fine.

Now I want to offload some of the load on the Mac by incorporating a StellarMate RPi, primarily for tracking and guiding.

In this test mode, I access the StellarMate directly with an attached keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Everything boots up fine. Then I make the exact same selections to create a minimal profile.

However, upon starting up Ekos I get the message:

EQMod Mount is disconnected.

Both computer systems are sitting on the bench next to each other and all I have done is transfer the USB cable from the Mac to the StellarMate.

Going back and forth, I get the same response. Mac works, StellarMate fails.

So then I think, maybe I need to install the Prolific driver so I run

lsusb | grep Prolific

To which I get

Bus 001 Device 009: ID 067b:2303 Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 Serial Port

So nope, it’s already there, that’s not the problem.

Hopefully someone has been down this rabbit hole before and they can guide me out.

Much appreciated in advance.
