Usually I don't re-calibrate either. But since we were discussing Bill's calibration issues I tested calibration over and over again. That's how I ended up with that many calibration plots.
I'll also do multiple calibrations near the equator/meridian tonight.
Well, I've been tinkering with my G11 for more than 10 years - been through a range of issues. Most of what I know about the G11, I have learned from the Losmandy user group and careful experimentation.
As for lube: search through the Losmandy user group messages and you'll find a lot, I mean a LOT, of discussion about grease. The standard advice is to use SuperLube. However. since the worm slides on the gear ring, that is a different matter than "nornam" bearings. Michael in that group (the Michael with the Belville mod) has suggested to use break grease instead, to eliminate the risk of, well, jerks, caused by a grease that is too soft on this kind of pressure. I've tried his advice with success.
