Celestron set time bug

Hello,

I had a lot of trouble this night to use the online et offline solver. I'm using my physical mount and the ccd simulator to play with ekos.

After hours of searching why it's so simple in Jasem video tutorial and not in with me, i found an interesting bug.

When I connect my mount, ekos synchronize the time wih the computer time. This is the case but not the good time.

See the screenshot. It was 2am for me in local time with UTC+2 in France and after synchronisation my mount display 1:34am.

Sébastien.

I found how to reproduce the bug. I think, it affects all the mount even the telescope simulator.

When you start kstars, the time is stored in memory. When you connect a mount this stored time is put into the mount. When you disconnect and reconnect the mount, the store time (ie the time when kstars was open) is sync in the mount. The time is never refresh before syncing.

Do you have INDI options so that KStars time is sent to the mount or the opposite? This option is available in the INDI Settings in KStars settings.

Hi Jasem,

Yes that the case. Time and location are sent to the mount.

On the hand controller, i display the local time to view any change. When I connect the mount with ekos, I check that time is correctly sent to the mount. That the case for the location and the date at first time but when I disconnect/reconnect the mount for the second time, time sent is an old time.

I can send you the mount log.

Please attach the mount log. Did you verify that the hand controller reports the correct date & time after you connect with Ekos?

Yes that what I'm trying to explain.

I made a real test with my nexstar.
1- power up the mount and configure a fake time (for example 12:30)
2- display the local time on the hand controller (at this moment it displays 12:30)
3- open kstars at 14:25 and wait
4- open ekos and start indi at 14:30 and wait
5- in ekos, connect the mount at 14:35 -> time change immediately to 14:25 (ie time of kstars opening)
6- disconnect/reconnect at 14:40 -> time change immediately to 14:25 (ie time of kstars opening)

I test it with the telescope simulator and the time display is .... 12:25UTC -> 14:25 in local time (kstars opening)

Well, this is odd but for me, the update is updated correctly to the exact time when I hit connect. Even when I disconnect/reconnect. Are you sure your KStars clock is not paused? Looks like the clock is paused.

Eurêka, you are a genius Jasem.
This is a feature that I never use. I don't know why but after my migration from 15,10 to 16,04, the time was paused.
It works perfectly now.

Thank you. Problem solved.
