Yes I saw that, I upped it to 60 last night already, but I took these darks yesterday as well so that should be fine. I do remember btw that I started at 3sec and switched to 2sec later on, after that the 3sec frames were gone.

My exact problem, always has been since the beginning, QHY is at fault here it seems so I'm not getting their cams anymore. Both the original Lodestar as the X2 are great it seems, the X2 is just a bit more sensitive, but not by that much, don't hold off on it too long. ;)

I don't think so, can't tell for sure as the filenames don't have extra info in them to see which exposure is which. But there are 4 darks in there, which must be the 1 and 2 seconds on bin 1 and bin 2.

The exact circumstances I can't remember, but I know for sure I didn't clear or delete any dark frames I took of my Lodestar at the beginning of the session last night. At some point though, maybe after KStars had a crash and needed to be restarted, the guider was asking to cover the scope. I then looked at the dark library and all my 3 sec exposures were gone, which are the ones I was using. The others were still there.

I remember I've seen this behaviour in earlier versions of Kstars as well, has anyone seen this before?

Not sure if this is already possible, but I just calibrated on the horizon and unfortunately had a KStars crash. Calibration is then lost and it would be nice if I can just reuse the previous calibration..

So just wanted to update this. I recently got a Lodestar X2 and it's working like a charm under INDI! The QHY driver is definitely just not working right under Linux. Get a Lodestar X2 anyway people, should have done that a year ago. :) This means I'm returning to Linux!

So is it also possible to have an unpark position? Would be nice to click park and it goes horizontal, unpark and it goes to the pole.

Would be nice though to have a very clear UI for this. For the EQMod in ASCOM on Windows, you just have 2 options for a unpark and park position, very handy.

Thanks for the info! Weirdly enough, yesterday it just worked. That would indicate a possible connector problem, but firing up Windows after that first failed session connected just fine and it has been stable throughout both sessions. I'm going to see if it happens more often on the Linux side and investigate if so.

This evening I switched from using a PL chipset to a cable with a FTDI chipset and am experiencing the problem that it is being recognized by Linux (looking at dmesg) and connected to TTYUSB0, but shortly after that it disconnects without a clear reason. On Windows it works fine (though it got assigned COM port18 which EQMod couldn't see, so I forced it to use 16). It might be an old problem, but I couldn't find a clear answer to it. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I'm now using an UP board. Not very cheap, but it was one that had gigabit Ethernet available. Running great on Ubuntu mate for some weeks now. Not sure about their support etc. though, seems a bit of a niche among boards.

I love Ekos and KStars and since I got my Ethernet connection last month most is working beautifully. However, this also showed the real (not related to my poor wifi connection I had) issues I still have with the StarShoot camera. Quite frankly, it's terrible in the sense of being reliable. I always run into capturing frames, for instance for the polar alignment, then restarting it and getting an error which can only be resolved by stopping INDI and the drivers en starting everything up again. This happens throughout various elements of the capture process. I can only image a whole night when every single step is perfect during initial setup. Which is why I lately resorted to SGP and Windows, on which the driver does behave (but was a pain to get going). It's all the fault of the QHY driver and QHY/Orion itself I guess so I'm kind of giving up on them. I really want to move back to Linux..

So, I'm hearing a lot of good things about the Lodestar X2. I think I want to go for that one, but before I do, can people here tell me if this behaves way better under INDI?

Thanks!

Thanks everyone, very informative! I actually went into the habit of not syncing my mount at all before a session. This is because I noticed that the initial model it starts out with was already fairly ok and the platesolving takes care of the rest. But what you're saying is that for the flip, it is vital to have an accurate model, I'll try that.

I'll check what my settings are, it could ofcourse be some comms issue, though I doubt that with the Ethernet connection. Or the mount itself has a problem. Thanks for checking!
