I acknowledge the communication from Albert, Wolfgang and yourself. With human interaction my curiosity has returned and I read your reply and thought... He's just like me, sometimes it does and sometimes not... and it's an intermittent issue.
So I put my thoughts onto paper and I hope the outcome is good for us both.

My Summary.
By doing nightly build testing I had a clean Kubuntu OS and a clean KStars. No configuration Information has carried over from previous builds and so my errors were greater than previously experienced.
The best solution is to get the Saved Config reloaded at the next opening so I will submit a bug report and request it.
