Fantastic :-)
I will test it tomorrow evening, I'm using the PPA, so I'll have ot wait ;-)

Not yet... haven't had the time to do any work on this at all.... Right now I'm hoping somebody else will have the time...

So I've tried installing the x2gomatebindings package, as well as altering my x2go client profile... but is dosn't work... I still get the same error :-(

But luckily I stumbled over Xpra during a google search... and it works really well, it's not as nice as X2Go, but it comes very very close and the performance is great.

So for now I think I will just be using Xpra instead :-)

Hi jpanana

Thanks a lot for your input. I can see that I might be missing the x2gomatebindings package... I only installed the x2goserver and x2goserver-xsession packages on the server (Odroid XU4).

But I can also see that you've configured your X2Go session somewhat differently from me..., so maybe there is a possibility of success if I change my X2Go session confiuration slightly...

I'll give a try as soon as possible :-)

Again, thanks for your input!

Hi jpaana

Nice to know that it should be possible to make it work :-D

Can you elaborate a little on how you've configured both the linux system, as well as X2Go, and how you use it...

I guess you are connecting to a virtual desktop i.e. screen :50?

Anders

Hi Jasem

So I've only seen problems with starting KStars, when connected to a virtual desktop (:50) via X2Go, I also had the excact same issues when using TightVNC.

Since I'm not a regular linux user, I not sure which apps are K-type or X11-type... can you suggest some that I could test with?

I haven't tried noVNC, but from what I understand, it relies on X11VNC or TightVNC as a backend... and since TightVNC doesn't work (as it dosn't allow connecting to the root display ':0', i.e. same issue as what I'm seeing on X2Go), I wonder why it should be better than using X11VNC with f.ex. the Remmina client?

Just some extra info, when I try to launch KStars (from a terminal) on a virtual desktop using X2Go or TightVNC, it complains just like I wrote in my first post, but in the end it issues a Segmentation Error... don't know if that is of any help.

The X11 connection broke: Unsupported extension used (code 2)
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":50"
after 6 requests (6 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
Segmentation Error

I must say that I think it would be VERY VERY BENEFICIAL for a lot of people in this community, if we could get KStars to work running on a virtual desktop! As X2Go has a fantastic performance!!! It quite literally performs like you are sitting on the local machine... almost no lagging at all... no jpeg compression artifacts... its simply just works like a remote desktop ought to be working!

If I enable the XU4 to boot into the GUI (Mate desktop), then X11vnc works fine.... but the performance of it is awfull...

Hi Pontius

The sensor questions in their spam blocker, can be a bit tricky, especially if you get one of them wrong... then the site won't let you complete even after you've corrected the error... unless you reload the page... It must be an error in the webserver...

Hi

I'm in the process of setting up KStars on an Odroid XU4 running Ubuntu Mate 16.04 LTS.

The idea of this system, is to run everything locally on the XU4 board, and then just connect remotely using something like VNC.

Everything works fine if I run KStars locally on the board, or if I use X11VNC.

I however need the system to be able of running on the XU4 in headless mode, therefore I have disabled booting of the GUI (X-server).
I haven't been able to get X11VNC to work, when the system is running headless (without a screen), and the performance of both X11VNC and
TightVNC isn't very impressive either....

So instead I tried to use the X2Go server/client system... and I must say it's extremely impressive, the performance is fantastic!
And X2Go also support disconnecting and re-connecting to the same desktop instance, as well as physical screen sharing (remote-desktop) if that is needed.

I just have one little issue, I'm not able to launch KStars... when I try to do so I get the following error message:

The X11 connection broke: Unsupported extension used (code 2)
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":50"
after 6 requests (6 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

Hi jasem

Thanks a lot for your input. I also had been looking at bit at libusb!
I'll begin to read up on the USB protocol and look into how linguider uses libusb for the QHY5/6 cameras, then if I can find the spare time, I'll try to do the development :-)

Hi Guys

I would like to get my QHY Polemaster camera to work on Linux, in order to use it with the new Polar Alignment Assistant in Ekos.
QHY currently dosn't provide a linux driver, not do they support the Polemaster via their Linux SDK.

But Qiu Hongyun (QHY) has offered to provide their Low Level USB Protocol specifications, provided I/we sign an NDA.
Read more here: qhyccd.com/bbs/index.php?topic=5718.0 and here: qhyccd.com/bbs/index.php?topic=5602.0

Although I'm a professional Embedded Firmware developer, I currently have no experience in Linux device drivers, nor with the USB protocol.
So I would like to hear if there are anybody in this forum who would like to participate in developing a Linux INDI driver for the QHY Polemaster camera?

I know there are people out there in the same situation as me... who already own a QHY Polemaster, and who would like to use the hardware together with INDI/Ekos.

Best Regards
Anders Lange

Hi Jasem

I definitely intend to be using the Ekos PAA. I would just like to be able to do it using the Polemaster hardware, so my investment in this piece of equipment hasn't been invain ;-)

I'll try to contact QHY to see if they will be able to provide a linux device driver for the camera.

Hi Jasem

Fantastic new feature, that has been awaited for a long time, thanks a lot :-)

With my current setup, I have a FOV of 1.15° x 0.86° on my guide-scope (TS Deluxe 60mm Guide Scope, 240mm focal length + ZWO ASI 120MM).
So I guess it would work with the limitations of the Astrometry.net solver.

However, I've already invested in the QHY CCD Polemaster, in order to make my polar alignment routine fast and easy.
Sadly it only works on Windows (and Mac, in a beta version).
I would very much like to re-use the polemaster camera itself, on linux, but with the EKOS software...

So I'm now wondering if anyone have had any luck getting the polemaster camera to work on linux???
If not, are there anybody who could give me some pointers on how to get it to run...? I've tried with gphoto2, but so far with no success.

Ubuntu detects the camera, but doesn't recognize it, so I guess it doesn't load any driver for it...

dmesg log look like this:

Thanks for your answers :-)
Just another one; what kind of storage are you using on your Pi3?

I'm currently using a Pi2, its sitting in my battery box on the ground beneath my tripod. So I have all cables arranged into a single cable going down to my batterybox.

Hi Jumans
Are you running Kstars and Ekos on the Pi3, or just the INDI drivers and server?
