Nguyen ...

Doing a Reset is most likely the problem you are facing.

I am not sure about OnStepX, but in OnStep, when you do a Reset (:hF#), all the alignment correction data is zeroed out.

The only way to preserve the alignment data is to a) save it to NVRAM, and b) do a Park.

Next session you do Unpark, but never Reset.
You can verify that by checking the corrections in Azimuth and Altitude: they will have values that are not zero when you finish your alignment, and if you Park/Unpark. But if you reset, they will be zero.

By after a reset I meant a power cycle of the controller

By "reset" what I meant was power cycle. After I turn off and on again the controller, the error number return to zero in the alignment module

Do you do a Park before you turn off the power?
Do you do an Unpark after you power on?

If you don't then the alignment corrections will not be loaded from NVRAM, and they will be zero.

Yes; I did park before turning off the controller (my roll off roof will hit the scope if I do not park). After turn kn the controller and connect to kstars, the mount already unparked, I do not have to press unpark. The position always set to NCP (though the scope is parking horizontally).

In OnStepX it is an Config.h option to automatically load the alignment model at boot (default OFF):
#define ALIGN_MODEL_MEMORY ON

If you are not using that option you must Park before powering off to retain the pointing model. If you fail to park you can still UnPark from Home to recover the model.

It is normal behavior for OnStepX at boot to indicate the Park position, even before UnParking IF the date/time is known.

I don't use Park/Unpark since I don't have an observatory, so I am not sure
if what you describe has always been the case for OnStep, or something new
in OnStepX

This tells me that something is not right.
Ask in the OnStep mailing list if this is how things are supposed to work or
there is an issue somewhere (whether a bug in the firmware, or the steps
of your workflow).

Hi,

I just updated OnStep to version: = 10.19.c since it removes a bug (onstep.groups.io/g/main/message/55149)
and this update also changes the behavior after cold start (what you call power cycle) .

Now when I am parked and shutdown OnStep I am still in that state when restart.
I need to unpark and then I work like usual.

Thank, Howard, welcome to the forum. It's great to see you have your account finally sorted out.
I am using 10.17a I think I'll update to the latest firmware and see if it solves my problem.
@Alain: I'll upgrade to 10.19c and see what happens. Also will test new driver when I have the chance. Thanks!
@Khalid: as a first timer on OnStep, I find the learning curve is quite steep, but I am trying to catching up. Thanks for your help!

@all,

After update to 10.19.c,
changing some cosmetics in the indi User Interface,
fixing the type about reading calculated errors from OnStep

it seems to work fine.
OnStep Alignement values are kept even after cold reboot of OnStep (Power Off > Power On)
Parking status is kept as well enven after cold reboot.
Now it is as I was used to,
when restarting I find the mount in Idle status and position is in the park position.
Then I unpark and voilà! OnStep unpark and tracking is enabled.

The changes are already merged into master.

Now I go back to my hot potatoe, the observatory

Have a look on: github.com/azwing/Observatory/tree/main/doc
and pictures on azconcept.org/albums-photo/wppaspec/oc1/lnfr/cv0/ab6

it's a bit outdated since I changed the the cylinder against the dome but the principles remain the same
Structure is wood, roof is polyester and glas fiber
