Flat frames- adu setting and sony a7rii

Hi

tried creating some flat frames for my sony a7rii this morning and clicked on the wizard button in the capture module. This gave me the option of picking an adu value (randomly I picked 16000) which it seemed to say it would try calibrating exposures to try and hit the set value. Now I had got 30secs exposure set and it seemed to go off and take the flats using that. However it did say it was hitting an adu of 16344 (or similar) and was thus in range.
Does the adu setting work for sony cameras? Is it doing something clever and actually somehow exposing for what I would expect to be a sub second time within that 30 secs or…?

Regards

Nigel

PS I seem to be hitting a lot of problems and as a beginner I’m struggling to work out whether it’s me, the equipment, the software or just a pack of gremlins attacking me :(
