Hi! First post to the forum so please correct me if this is not the forum for driver wishes. I was hoping there was an INDI driver for Artesky's Flat Box USB, but after searching for a while it seems it doesn't exist. Any chance it will be available in the future?
Hi Ginge,
Writing a driver for a flat box is quite easy provided that you have the command set for the device.
Does artesky give this kind of information?
Hi Ferrante, thanks for the reply!
I can ask. Their code is released on github and a request for the source code in order to write an INDI driver was put there in 2020 and looks to be unanswered. I'll put in a request too.
It seems that all you need is libartesky to compile under Linux.
And from the readme file in the libartesky repo a 1.1 version is supporting Linux; but it's not released yet neither as source code nor as compiled : github.com/Artesky/artesky-projects-devel
Ok, thanks. To be honest: I'm extremely new to Linux and INDI and have zero knowledge of programming, just took the leap after imaging for 14 years with OSX, so forgive my total lack of understanding. I'm learning though . I've emailed Artesky directly and asked if they could provide the command set. Should I rather be asking for the libartesky 1.1 source code?
From what I understand the libartesky deals with the communication to and from the flat box device while the driver manages the communication to and from the client applications like kstars/ekos.
So you need the command set to write a custom Indi driver and the compiled (under Linux) libartesky library.
The latter could be also provided as source code and compiled later.
btw I just called Artesky and they told me that an indi version is under way. No idea of the timing though .

Cool!! Thanks! Hope these requests give them the push to finish the driver or provide what is needed for others to do it. Seems like it has been in the works for a few years.
