Hi Jeff,

I have a setup similar to yours and haven't been having problems with the ZWO cameras I use for imaging and guiding. I was looking closely at your Indi Web Manager screen shots and yours indicates that it is 'Beta 5 INDI Web Manager'. Mine shows 'SM Web Manager'. I'm using a standard release installation of StellarMate installed on a RPi at the scope but am controlling it from a Mac (I've been using a wired connection after many frustrating experiences/experiments with RPi WiFi). Could there be an issue with the Beta build?

There may be a bug here that needs extermination! I don't have experience with flags but I've used a method in EKOS to center a frame the way I want and it works repeatably over multiple nights - I pass this along only as a work around until the flags thing sorts out.

Using KStars or another planetarium package (I find Starry Night to be useful as well) I find a star at, or near, where I want the center of my frame. This works particularly well in areas like the Veil Nebula since there are stars everywhere. I simply use that star as my target and EKOS has framed things up the way I wanted. It survives meridian flips as well. I haven't tried it with a mosaic.

FWIW

I'm running OS 12.5.1 with the latest KStars 3.6.0 build that Rob pushed out and it's working fine so far. Find Object works without crashing KStars.

Rob - thanks so much for all your work on this. I just downloaded the new DMG and overwrote the Beta I had installed yesterday. KStars launches without problem (after the first time fiddling with the Security and Privacy settings in MacOS), it connects to my gear and Find Object seems to work just fine (tested it from the main KStars menu, the observation planner, and the telescope control). It's daylight here right now so I'll do more testing when conditions are good.

Hi Andreas - what operating system are you using? I was having that problem on MacOS and the latest Beta build (3.6.1) no longer exhibits that problem.

Rob - rather than continue to post in the other topic (indilib.org/forum/ekos/12096-kstars-3-6-...lected.html?start=12), I'll post here instead regarding the problems with KStars on a Mac.

I was able to download the latest Beta 3.6.1 release (2022-08-25T18:24:31Z) and so far I can report that it launches (no more beachball of death), connects to all my gear, and doesn't crash when you try to find an object. I won't be able to run a full test trying to image a target for a night or two but wanted to report the progress.

Rob and others - I was able to run 3.6 on a MacBook Pro (Intel) last night with no problems. This morning I did a routine OS security update to MacOS 12.5.1 and now KStars doesn't run on the MacBook Pro any longer. Maybe something in that security update?

Rob - thanks! Here's the text that displays when I run the command you referenced:

Regarding what was happening when it crashed, it actually simply failed to launch. I would launch KStars and I'd just get the beachball spinning. When I went into Force Quit, it showed up as a non-responsive app. Let me know if I can provide more color.

After the initial success, I have been trying to launch KStars again this evening hoping to get some imaging in tonight. KStars no longer launches. I've reinstalled the KStars update, reinstalled MacOS and each time I try to launch I get the 'spinning beach ball of death' and have to Force Quit KStars. If I can provide any information or system reports, please let me know. If anyone else is having the same problem, would be great to know - trying to sort out whether it's a result of something unique to my system environment.

Hi Ron - I've just done some quick testing after downloading the new version. Everything seems to be working based on a quick test of Find Object from the main KStars menu as well as from within the telescope control in EKOS. Thanks so much! Will do more with it hopefully tonight and keep you posted.
