USB GPS Dongle extended time to satellite lock

I have two USB GPS Modules (both in the recommended list) and both do achieve a satellite lock/fix but starting up, that lock time tends to be 30-40 minutes! The modules have a good view of the sky and my iPhone GPS2IP app gets a fix within seconds. I have read online that when staring up 'cold', GPS modules can take a long time to lock due to the cold start algorithm but that there is a way to program the dongle based on location to acquire a more rapid fix. I use the modules with a USP extension cord so they are not near the USB3 ports as suggested. I would greatly appreciate guidance and specific instructions on how to 'program' the dongle for faster acquisition. (U-blox program on windows?). Thanks. Steve

As well as using an extension cable for the GPS dongle I have found that I have to avoid using the usb3 ports. All my equipment runs on the RPI usb2 ports.
