Do you have AC power at your rig? Why not given powerline ethernet adapters a try? Close to ethernet speeds over your AC line. I use them and they are waaaaay better than wifi.

I have no problem with the internal 5GHz Wifi. Reach is actually farther than with anything else I have at home.

How far out do you have to connect? I have ~75% at 60 ft from the transmitter.

Atlas Pro AZ-EQ, ASI1600MM-Pro, ASI120MM-S, ES102ED, WO-Z61, Nikon D3300, ASI-EFW, ZWO LRGB,Ha,O3,S2 filter set

limburg11 wrote: I use the „BrosTrend 1200 MBit/s USB WLAN Stick Linux“ and I can highly recommend it (has 2 adjustable external antennas). I get superior signal strength and I can even connect to my 5G Wifi which is 2 walls away (94 % signal, perfect, no delays). See my post here RPi performance optimization . This stick works under Windows as well, of course.

I haven't tried hotspot yet. Maybe I have time today to check it.

I just tried it out and the „BrosTrend 1200 MBit/s USB WLAN Stick Linux“ is capable of creating a 5G Wifi hotspot. I could create the hotspot and connect to it.

I didn't test 2.4G, but I'm sure this will work, too. But 5G is of course preferable because of the higher bandwidth.

I keep in mind this possible solution....

Dear limburg,

I received today the dongle, and I ask to BrosTrend for the ticket for rpi drivers, but today is friday and probably to monday I dont receive any reply. Do you remember how to install and where I can download the drivers for my RPI4?

Thanks,

Wow, that was a prompt delivery. When I asked for the drivers, I received the following link with instructions to install the driver:

deb.trendtechcn.com/

It took quite a while (the driver had to be compiled, but all was automated), but after it finished, I restarted the Pi and the Wifi stick worked perfectly. Then you have two Wifi devices in your Pi, wlan0 = builtin Wifi and wlan1 = BrosTrend stick.

Opsss, i installed first the b option (to install the 88x2bu driver for the ACL1 or ACL3 versión 2 models). Non errors showed. Restar the pi and I continúe only with 1 wifi device....

Then I tried to install option a (to install the 88x2bu driver for the ACL1 or ACL3 versión 2 models) with the same result, 1 only wifi device....

Then I can't install the correct driver....
