I asked about this more than a year ago, got some advise but still didn't have a clear understanding.
It was suggested to use Scheduler but I was not good with it as I only tried it once...
Flags didn't work.
So, I want to shoot Sh2-308 (Dolphin Head) and Sh2-303 and want the frame to be centered exactly in between them.
How do I do this? There's no star there in KStars to center on.
Actually, with the same settings/catalogues there are much more stars in Windows KStars than in RPI KStars for some reason.
In Windows I can center properly. In RPI there is only one star between the objects but it's quite a bit off center.
I will be shooting in a remote dark location with everything running on RPI.

I usually via Kstar select the point with my mouse and slew the telescope from there. It appears to work well for me and always plate solves where I want.

First center your framing in kstars main window. Then create job in sheduler and use that cross button next to J2000 coordinates which "Fills coordinates with SkyMap center"
You can also use mosaic.darkdragons.space/ to generate a star field to solve. Just set it up with your camera and telescope info, center the view where you want it, then download the fits file at the bottom. It generates a synthetic star field that works pretty well for me to solve and slew.
Hi, my procedure is similar to the others: I make a fits picture exactly with the section I want. Be sure that the fits contains the coordinates of the section, i.e. you have prior to activate WCS in the indi control panel for your telescope. Then save the Fits. Then in the solver tab: load and solve....

I actually tried all these methods - some of them worked differently a year ago.
There were some improvements in this department, I guess.
Didn't know about "Fills coordinates with SkyMap center" in the Scheduler.
