So I tried this as a test and it worked for me (rpb3B+ stellarmate OS -> MacBook) without an issue.
To hijack the thread a bit, a question...
What is the expected improvement for this wired connection vs a 5G wired connection?
I haven't had a chance to try this yet, but I suspect the issues I'm having with being unable to reliably use/solve my images (slightly better when VNCing directly to Kstars on the RBP3B+) are more related to my fits files from a Z7 being 86.7 MB and the RBP3B+ is USB2 only.
Maybe it's time to jump ship to a faster usb3/more RAM system as referenced in another thread?

I stick to raw (native) instead of fits, that’s only 24MB from my Pentax K-70.
Sticking to raw files from your Z7, you’ll have file sizes of about 45MB, almost half compared to fits.
Wonder what extra data is added? Seems to be a lot.
