Thanks Mattia.

Gotta disagree there. It’s a BIG problem.TtyUSB1 is NOT available before starting EKos and only comes into view after this error in the log AND TTYUSB0 disappears So I would have to change the configuration when this happens, every time. And even then, I have no guarantees it won’t switch back. Gotta find a solution to this.

>> do you have a so called eqmod cable? it seems pl2303 may look like one and the eqmod chip may cause problems on Linux (I recomment in fact using normal USB cables).

Gee, I don’t know! I simply bought a USB-RJ cable and went with it. I could look for a different cable and would welcome recommendation on where to buy one.

I will also try the config change you recommend.

But did you check the link to the other post I provided? This one details mysterious failures on the focuser and camera soon after a successful connection. Would this change affect these devices?

I am increasinlglv convinced that these problems are all related. I sent that post to the Ekos forum because it happened shortly before the one with USB ones. My leading suspect is the Pi5, as these problems did not appear with the 4 I used to use.

I installed the pre-built dmg available in the downloads area.

Interesting. I have no idea what might be causing this.

If you are building from source, have you run `make install`? Generally speaking, KDE uses an .xml file to define the menu items, and you need to run the full build process to install this properly.

In my attempt to build it on MacOS, it worked fine. Perhaps someone who is more familiar with MacOS build toolchain knows what the issue is, maybe Robert Lancaster?

Hi Steve, had a look at the logs, they look mostly normal to me, and if the ttyUSB1 stays that way I wouldn't bother too much, got some questions:
- do you have a so called eqmod cable? it seems pl2303 may look like one and the eqmod chip may cause problems on Linux (I recomment in fact using normal USB cables)
- are you running through a powered USB? The lines containing "over-current change" indicate that whatever device is there is requesting more current than the pi may provide. Can't tell for sure what kind of device is there, you may have more luck adding usb_max_current_enable=1 in /boot/config.txt

On both my Intel NUC 11 Essential and my BeeLink U59 I had numerous display issues (and even becoming non-responsive) with StellarMate X OS.

Once I disabled the Compositor under the Display and Monitor in System Settings I have no longer seen this issue.
I don't think this is enabled on the RPi version of StellarMate (haven't used it in a few months).

Thanks, Mattia.

This issue has come back to rear its ugly head again.

I had gotten disgusted with my GPS dongle and have removed it from the system. Only to find that /dev/ttyUSB0 still disappears from the /dev/ directory listing only to find /dev/ttyUSB1 appearing in its place, even without the dongle.

I am attaching a file containing dmesg output. Perhaps it will suggest something,

I would call your attention to lines 567-580, Maybe you can help me understand what they mean.

I also found issues with my camera and focuser, which I documented in another post under EKos as I did not originally think they were related to this, but maybe they are.

After getting a new Raspberry Pi5 (running Astroarch), working through and solving flaky WiFi issues, flaky cable issues, I now find myself finally able to use KStars and Ekos again.

But I am immediately met with errors on my ZWO ASI533MC PRO and ZWO EAF devices. I don't know how to solve any of them.

The devices connect in EKos, but quickly develop errors that prevent anything useful from being done. I am enclosing some INDI driver logs in the hope that someone can help me understand them. Besides the question of the specific errors in the logs, I am thinking there may be a more global problem with my Pi5. Why should all these devices be failing at the same time?

Jean-Luc created a new topic ' Mount control moved ?' in the forum. 17 hours 18 minutes ago

Hello,
From yesterday to today, the Control mount icon has moved from Ekos to Sky screen.
I can't figure out the interest of this - I would rather consider this a problem, as it is not possible anymore to monitor the target while trying to center it.
Where it was until yesterday :

And where it is as of today :

Any reason for doing so ?
Rgrds,

Agreed I seem to have a more general problem. When I went to get things set up after dark using the 'new' profile the limit issue had returned along with others that ended the session.

As best I can tell, the limits are not stored with the profile. When I make a change, it appears in all profiles. It does seem like it should be per profile, but I guess not.

I can see how that would be annoying. I would make it easier to find support requests, I just do not know if there is enough interest in this specific topic to support a new category.

Thanks Bill,

Made me define a new profile with the same devices. The same unwanted values showed up but now changes are retained. Don't know what it means but guess I'll go ahead and customize that profile instead of my usual one.
